JOB DUTIES: This position is a working supervisor that supervises and participates in food preparation and service; preparation of regular meals and special diets under the direction of a qualified Dietitian.  This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Three (3) years of experience in quantity cookery of which one (1) year shall have been as a fully competent cook; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

JOB DUTIES: This position works in a hospital, clinic or long term care facility and is responsible for providing direct patient care through the performance of a variety of nursing support tasks in accordance with established methods and procedures.

JOB DUTIES: Infection Prevention & Employee Health provides surveillance and prevention of infection duties to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections among patients, employees, physicians and other licensed independent practitioners, contract service workers, volunteers, students and visitors.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Infection Prevention & Employee Health in ensuring that the organization has a functioning coordinated process to reduce the risks of hospital transmitted infections in patients and healthcare workers. This position is also responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling potential health hazards within KCH to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, and to promote employee health and safety. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.  While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

 Experience: One and one-half (1 ½) years of professional nursing work experience is required. Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in a acute care setting where the employee independently provided hospital experience in which administrative, supervisory, teaching and nursing ability has been demonstrated is highly desirable. At least one (1) year Infection Control experience and a fundamental knowledge of microbiology acquired through a formal course preferred.

Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker, is required within six (6) months of employment.

Licensure: Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
