JOB DUTIES: This position interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays and may require standby and call back duty.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate or Pharm.D degree in pharmacy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months of full-time work experience as a licensed pharmacist. Hospital experience and experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system preferred.

LICENSURE: A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a Pharmacist is required at the time of appointment.

Must possess supervisory aptitude.  Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, previous work experience in a position that demonstrates or performs supervisory functions or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of:  The principles and practices of professional pharmacy and their application to the operation of a pharmacy; specialized sciences directly applicable to pharmacy, such as pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, toxicology and therapeutics; pharmaceutical instruments and techniques used in compounding.  Knowledge of preparation of sterile admixture and sterile technique.

Knowledge of USP Chapter 797 and USP Chapter 800 required.  Employees must adhere to all rules and regulations regarding personal hygiene and garbing as detailed in USP Chapter 797 when working in the clean room.  Employees must adhere to all requirements regarding proper PPE when handling or compounding hazardous materials as detailed in USP Chapter 800.

Ability to:  Apply acquired knowledge to pharmacy processes such as reading and interpreting prescriptions, instructions and procedures; keep records and prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationship with medical and administrative personnel within the agency.

JOB DUTIES: The Imaging Specialist IV (Echo Specialist) is responsible for independently performing a variety of diagnostic procedures including Echocardiogram, Dobutamine, Stress-testing, and trans-esophageal echocardiograms using ultrasonic equipment to obtain diagnostic data for physician review and evaluation.  In addition, this position is also responsible to receive and provide cross training into related modalities and may be assigned to perform assignments in related imaging modalities for which they are qualified and competent.  The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays and may require standby and call back duty.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Imaging Experience:  One-and-one-half (1 ½) years of progressively responsible professional imaging technologist/specialist experience which demonstrated a thorough knowledge of imaging procedures and/or techniques such as myelograms, discograms, arthrograms, etc., including the X-raying of such areas of the human anatomy as the chest, skull, gastro-intestinal tract, urinary tract, and vascular system.
  • Specialized Experience:  One (1) year of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in echocardiography in a clinical or hospital environment.  Must be experienced in echocardiograpy procedures and/or techniques such as imaging and non imaging cardiovascular evaluations which may include stress tesing and transesophageal echocardiography

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
  • BLS is required within six months of employment.

LICENSURE: None required.

JOB DUTIES: The Clerk IV is responsible for independently providing a variety of clerical and unit assistance to support the professional staff.  This position will perform independently and uses good judgment and common sense when prioritizing tasks assigned during emergency situations.

The Clerk IV performs functions in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital and is knowledgeable of regulations governing Medicare, Medicaid and Collective Bargaining Agreements.  The subject position is subject to shift work, works weekends and holidays.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

JOB DUTIES: The Social Worker IV is responsible for working with all types of patients/residents admitted and to provide crisis, intervention, family therapy and to serve as a comprehensive care manager for individual patients/residents. This is a fully trained and experienced social worker that handles complex cases and provides technical guidance to doctor’s, other hospital staff, including social workers, and outside agencies on the methods and procedures for handling cases. The position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with State and Federal and other guidelines.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed by the infant (0-1 year), pediatric (2-10 years), adolescent (11-18 years), adult (19-64 years) to geriatric (65 years plus) patient groups.

Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection.

If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Complaint and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
