On Monday, June 15, 2015, Kona Community Hospital hosted a Community Input Meeting to seek public comment on the hospital’s upcoming facility-wide reduction in force (RIF) and temporary suspension of services to its 18-bed skilled nursing unit as a result of the RIF. This RIF and service closure are part of a contingency plan to offset a $6 million budgetary shortfall for fiscal year 2016, which begins on July 1, 2015.
