About Us

Aloha and WelcomeAloha and Welcome – Where You Belong

At Kona Community Hospital, we believe that health care starts with a sense of belonging. For over 100 years, we’ve proudly served the West Hawaii community with a simple philosophy: everyone who walks through our doors is treated like ‘Ohana. We are here to offer not just quality care, but also comfort, compassion, and connection.

We are a 94-bed, full-service acute care hospital with 24-hour emergency services, committed to meeting the health care needs of our community. Our journey began in 1914 in Kealakekua, continued to the historic County Courthouse in 1939, and brought us to our current home in 1974. Through the years, one thing has remained the same — our dedication to caring for our community with heart and humility.

At the core of everything we do is our brand essence: belonging.

We strive to create a place where patients, families, caregivers, and staff feel seen, heard, and deeply known. We believe health and healing happen best in a space of trust, respect, and aloha — where you are welcomed, valued, and supported.

Our hospital family includes over 450 skilled employees and 100 dedicated medical staff practitioners — many who have served here for over two decades. We are proud to be one of the largest employers in West Hawaii, and we are even prouder to call this community home.

When you come to Kona Community Hospital, you are not just a patient. You belong here. We are your friends, your neighbors, and your ‘Ohana — ready to walk with you through every moment, whether it’s a time of need, celebration, or healing.
