December has been a busy and festive month at Kona Community Hospital.

KCH Medical Van Receives AED Donation
Kona Hospital Foundation was presented with a new automated external defibrillator (AED) by Physio Control on Thursday, September 19th at the Family Support Service Early Child Center in Kealakekua. The AED will be dedicated to the Kona Community Hospital medical van, which services Hawaii Island’s rural, medically underserved Ka`u District.
Kona Hospital Foundation Receives Monty Richards Hawaii Island Community Award
The Kona Hospital Foundation was recently selected as one of three recipients of the 2013 Bank of Hawaii Monty Richards Hawaii Island Community Award. The announcement was made at a presentation at Kahua Ranch on Thursday, Sept. 19. The $10,000 award received by the Foundation will fund the purchase of urologic equipment for the operating suites at Kona Community Hospital (KCH).

Kona Hospital Foundation Receives $40,000 in grants from American Savings Bank and Hawaii Electric Light
Kona Hospital Foundation recently received a grant of $20,000 from American Savings Bank (ASB) and another $20,000 grant from Hawaii Electric Light Company. The grants will fund the purchase of two baby warmers to enhance newborn care at Kona Community Hospital (KCH).

Kona Community Hospital Enters Agreement with Sound Physicians for Hospitalist Services
Kona Community Hospital has entered into an agreement with Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery. Sound Physicians began providing hospitalist services on May 29, 2013.
