JOB DUTIES: This RPN VI (Lead Nursing Supervisor) position is responsible for supervising all of Kona Community Hospital’s patient care and treatment services on an assigned shift – evening, night or day, in the absence of the nurse managers or CNE. In addition, this position will have staff oversight of all personnel in the Nursing Administration department (cost center 8720) EXCEPT for the AHA/CNE. The Lead House Supervisor will assist the CNE in planning, coordinating and implementing departmental and house-wide objectives/programs.  This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.  MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

The Minimum Qualification Requirements Are: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.  While not required, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in an acute care setting. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.

Supervisory Experience: Six (6) months of professional nursing experience which included:  (1) planning and directing the work of others; (2) assigning and reviewing their work; (3) advising them on difficult problem areas; (4) timing and scheduling their work; and (5) training and developing employees. Twenty-four (24) months minimum of nursing supervisor experience preferred. Six (6) months of management experience preferred.

Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker is required at the time of appointment.  ACLS and PALS must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.

Licensure: Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

JOB DUTIES:  The purpose of the Central Supply Aide position in the Sterile Processing Unit is to provide organizational instrument processing, which includes procurement, aseptic techniques, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, utilization and the decontamination process. This position requires a thorough knowledgeable of the specialized routines and procedures of sterile supply operations.  At the  CSA I, the incumbent of the position will be trained in Central Supply and sterilization processes and operations. JOB DUTIES: This position works in a hospital, clinic or long term care facility and is responsible for providing direct patient care through the performance of a variety of nursing support tasks in accordance with established methods and procedures. The position may work on rotating shifts and in a variety of care units (e.g., SNF, ICF, medical, surgical, etc.). The position may also provide home care for patients. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

Education: Graduation from high school preferred, or equivalent.

Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: One (1) year of work experience in a health facility such as a hospital or similar medically oriented institution where the primary or basic objective was to observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental symptoms and conditions and implement care and/or treatment procedures for a caseload of patients. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills (i.e., taking vital signs, measuring output, recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms, etc.); first aid; patient rights; universal precautions; infection control; body mechanics; principles of growth and development; purpose and benefits of activities of daily living (i.e., eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, dressing, etc.); purpose and benefits of restorative care (i.e., use and application of assistive devices, range of motion activities, etc.); basic medical and nursing terminology; and the ability to assist and participate in the activities of the treatment team; assess each patient’s age specific needs; and independently provide age specific direct personal care services to a caseload of patients.

Substitutions Allowed: Completion of a practical nursing or professional nursing curriculum from an accredited school substitutes for the experience required for the full performance level.

Certification: Applicants must have a current State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Certificate and have completed a State approved training program, at the time of appointment. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers required at the time of appointment.
