JOB TITLE: REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE III

SALARY RANGE: 90% of $7,672 PER MONTH (SR-20; BU:09)
JOB DUTIES: The Registered Professional Nurse III (Training) coordinate nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays based on hospital operations; services are provided 24/7.
This position is located in the Women’s Health Services whose functions are concerned with all phases of nursing care involving involving prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care; provides education in women’s health issues such as lactation and birthing education. After cross-training to the OR, OB nurses can scrub and/or circulate for repeat C-sections, if the census allows.
In order to effectively perform these duties and responsibilities, applicants must have basic knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; the ability to apply nursing theory and practice in planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate systems of patients conditions and take appropriate action; initiate and maintain working relationships with members of the medical staff, administration, nursing and other departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants shall be restricted to those possessing the following:
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE: One-half (½) years of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in acute care setting where the employee independently provide nursing care to patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers is required at the time of appointment. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within six months of employment. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab work, Emotional Support (STABLE) and Advance Fetal Heart Monitoring is preferred.
LICENSE: Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii at the time of appointment.
Required Forms & Documentation: Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g., official transcript or degree) to be given credit for education and/or experience. A legible photocopy will be accepted; however, Kona Community Hospital reserves the right to request an official copy.
