Kona Community Hospital (KCH) is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community. That’s the message of the 2016 National Hospital Week theme “Health Care from the Heart.”
The annual week-long event, scheduled for May 8 – 14, unites all KCH staff and highlights their role in the community.
“National Hospital Week is a celebration of our hardworking employees,” commented Jay Kreuzer, Kona Community Hospital CEO. “We’re very proud of everyone who represents our hospital. This includes employees, medical staff, volunteers, and affiliated staff. We recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities.”
The 2016 schedule of events at Kona Community Hospital kicked off with a Morning Coffee and Pastry Breaksponsored by the KCH Medical Staff. On Wednesday, May 11, employees the third annual old fashioned Ice Cream Social co-sponsored by the KCH Auxiliary, Meadow Gold Dairies and Cal-Kona Produce. Then, bright and early on Thursday morning night-shift employees were treated to Night Shift Appreciateion ice cream treats.
The week of activities wrapped up on Friday, May 13 as KCH leadership honored 2015 retirees and milestone year employees. Employees who have dedicated 10, 20 and 30 years of service as well as 2015 retirees were recognized at a luncheon catered by TK noodles.
All events were geared toward having fun and recognizing the hard work that everyone contributes year-round.
