Employees in certain Imaging Specialist positions shall earn incentives based on the successful completion of the following years of service:
1 year of satisfactory service   –   $2,000 bonus
2 years of satisfactory service   –   $3,000 bonus
$5,000 is the maximum bonus that any Employee may receive over the life of this agreement.

JOB DUTIES:  The Ultrasound/Echo/Vascular Specialist produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs, performs a variety of diagnostic procedures including echocardiogram, using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs.  The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays and may require standby and call back duty.  MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

Excess work experience as described below in the experience requirement section which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree in may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.  To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

Specialized Work Experience RequirementThree (3) years of progressively responsible work experience as a specialist of which at least a minimum of one (1) year of work experience must have been gained in each of two (2) of the following modalities:  echocardiography, ultrasound or vascular in a clinical or hospital environment.

Certification Requirements: Applicants must possess all of the following certifications

1.  A current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a  Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), and a current certification as aRegistered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).

2.  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment.

License Requirement:  A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer is preferred.

A legible photocopy will be accepted; however, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, Kona Community Hospital reserves the right to request an official copy.

MERIT OR CIVIL SERVICE SYSTEM: Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements, including education, experience, other public employment requirements for State Civil Service employment, and HHSC Standards of Fitness.  STEPS TO AN ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW, SUBSEQUENT APPEALS: If you do not agree with a decision made by the Employment Office as to your non-qualification or non-selection for a position, you may complete a Request for Administrative Review form (available on the HHSC website) or you may submit a written request within twenty (20) days from the date of your sent notice to the Regional Chief Executive Officer/Designee. Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include 1. The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2. the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is a statute or rule violation, and 3. any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals.
